What can be specified or customized?
| Product group | Typical details to define |
|---|---|
| Cut gaskets and sheet parts | Material grade, thickness, profile, holes, partitions and quantities. |
| Metallic and semi-metallic gaskets | Construction, alloy, filler, rings, seating dimensions and flange standard. |
| Packing and formed rings | Braid or ring construction, section, ID/OD, reinforcement and set arrangement. |
| PTFE and plastic components | Resin or filler, drawing tolerances, surface details and inspection dimensions. |
| Insulation assemblies | Gasket style, sleeves, washers, bolt arrangement and material requirements. |
| Production equipment | Finished product range, operations, controls, power and tooling requirements. |
A custom option is subject to review for the individual item. State the required outcome and dimensions first; availability, processing and tooling are then confirmed against that scope.
A drawing that can be quoted
A complete drawing reduces ambiguity between a sample, a replacement part and the finished item you need. Mark the revision and use one system of units. Identify which dimensions are critical to assembly or sealing performance.
| Information | Include with your RFQ |
|---|---|
| Geometry | ID, OD, thickness, holes, pitch circle, partitions, grooves and any non-standard profile. |
| Material | Grade, formulation, reinforcement, coating or filler where applicable. |
| Tolerances | Critical fit dimensions and the drawing tolerances that apply. |
| Operating duty | Fluid, temperature, pressure, equipment movement and flange or gland details. |
| Order scope | Each item and quantity, destination, requested date and required records. |
How a custom order is developed
- Specification review. Identify the product construction, material, drawing revision and unresolved fields.
- Quotation scope. Confirm each item, quantity, processing, tooling, documents and delivery basis.
- Approval where agreed. Use a drawing approval, sample or first article when it forms part of the purchase requirement.
- Production. Follow the agreed construction, material and dimensional requirements for the order.
- Inspection and release. Check the specified characteristics, marking, quantities and records before dispatch.
Replacing an existing seal
Send the existing part designation, equipment model or flange standard where known. Photographs are useful context, but they do not establish material grade or original dimensions. A gasket taken out of service may have changed thickness or shape.
For a heat exchanger gasket, include the full profile and pass-partition details. For packing, provide the shaft or stem diameter, stuffing-box bore and depth. For an insulation kit, specify the gasket, sleeves and washers as one assembly.
Replacement gasket measurement guide ↗Inspection and first-article requirements
Identify the measurements and records that matter to your assembly. Critical dimensions, material records, traceability, witness points and testing should be agreed before production. A sample approval does not replace the order specification; it should refer to the same drawing revision and acceptance criteria.
If an independent laboratory or third-party inspection is required, state the method, issuing party and acceptance criteria in the RFQ so the scope can be reviewed.
Discuss quality and inspection scope ↗Marking, packaging and shipping scope
Different product forms need different handling: flat gaskets, rings, packing spools, sheets and machined parts should be identified and protected for the shipment. Send your label, item-code and packing-list requirements with the order.
Packaging options include bags, cartons, pallets and wooden cases, depending on the product and shipping requirements. The quotation confirms the packaging selected for the shipment and its delivery terms.
Packaging and delivery information ↗Information confirmed in the quotation
- Item description and drawing revision.
- Material, construction and dimensional scope.
- Order quantity, tooling and sample or first-article scope if applicable.
- Inspection records, marking and packaging.
- Price, payment, production timing and named delivery basis.
There is no single minimum quantity or lead time that fits every custom seal. Supply the quantities and requested date for each item so the quotation can address the actual order.
Custom order questions
Can you manufacture to our drawing?
Send a readable drawing with its revision, units, material, critical dimensions and quantity. The configuration and any tooling or processing limits are reviewed before a quotation is confirmed.
Can you identify a replacement from a sample?
A sample can support identification, but a used seal may be compressed, worn or distorted. Include the equipment or flange drawing and material information where possible. Critical dimensions and the final specification need confirmation.
Do custom orders require a sample approval?
A sample, first article or drawing approval can be included when agreed for the order. State the acceptance criteria, quantity and inspection records required so the quotation can include the corresponding work.
What are the MOQ and lead time for custom parts?
They depend on the material, dimensions, processing, tooling and quantity. List each item separately and provide your required date. The quotation confirms the minimum quantity, sample charges if applicable and production timing.
Can you support OEM marking and packaging?
Send the marking, label, packaging and document requirements with the RFQ. The proposed format and any additional preparation are reviewed for the product and order before confirmation.
Send your custom sealing requirement
Send your product list, drawing revision, materials, dimensions, quantities and delivery destination. Cindy will coordinate the quotation and any questions about the specification.
