Handling, installation and replacement
Keep different fiber constructions identified during maintenance. Fit the approved section and retention arrangement for the equipment.
Inspection and documents for the selected item
Use the selected construction's material data and dimensional criteria, rather than a family-wide performance value.
Identify the drawing revision, acceptance criteria and the records that must accompany the order. If an independent inspection, witness point or special test is required, include its method and scope in the RFQ.
Discuss inspection documents ↗Custom supply, samples and purchasing details
Provide the shaft or stem diameter, stuffing-box bore and usable depth, then state named fiber; braid and reinforcement; treatment; section; intended joint or gland. Separate rotating, reciprocating and valve-stem duties in the inquiry.
Ask whether the quotation covers a continuous coil, cut lengths or a prepared ring set. MOQ, sample supply, documents and lead time should be confirmed for the specified fiber, treatment and dimensions.

- Glass Fiber Packing: Glass-fiber packing is a braided sealing product with a defined yarn and treatment. It is ordered separately from glass cloth, sleeving and sheet reinforcement.
- Ceramic Fiber Packing: Ceramic-fiber packing is supplied as a defined braid or packing section for equipment that specifies that construction. Fiber, reinforcement and treatment must be identified separately.
- Asbestos Packing: Asbestos-fiber packing is identified by its yarn construction and treatment. Orders must distinguish plain packing from versions treated with graphite or PTFE.
